DECOLONIAL GOVERNANCE
Quinte Cultural Innovation Committee

QCIC’s governance is rooted in decoloniality, equity, and fair compensation, ensuring that these principles are integrated into every aspect of our organization. Rather than treating equity, inclusion, and diversity as separate initiatives, we embed them into our core structure—working toward a future where systemic barriers no longer exist.

Our leadership model prioritizes restorative justice, permaculture values, and community-driven growth, fostering economic empowerment and inclusive decision-making. By redistributing wealth and resources, we uplift Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC)-led businesses and organizations, creating sustainable opportunities for historically marginalized communities to thrive.

Through a bridge model, we invest in BIPOC+W for-profit partners aligned with QCIC’s mission, linking financial support with reparative practices. This ensures that economic empowerment remains central to our work, directly addressing historical inequities in access to wealth and resources.

Transparency and fair compensation are key to our governance. We recognize the emotional labor, time, and expertise that BIPOC+ leaders contribute, ensuring they are financially supported through an honorarium model. This commitment ensures that leadership roles are respected and that QCIC remains a catalyst for meaningful, lasting change.
